Exercise 4: Line Graph (5%)
Exercise 4 is a short task that requires us to design a given chart and then animate it using the Animator settings, ultimately creating a smoothly animated 3-second video.
2. Process
We didn't have a practical class this week since it was the CNY holidays, but I referred to the recorded video Mr. Kannan provided.
First of all, I referred to the chart I was given via the student info Excel sheet. I am to work on a Line Graph.

So, I set up a 1920x1080 document, drew out a few lines, and started to refer to the data I was given.
With that, I tried my best to replicate the lines. Fig 2.2 shows a side-by-side comparison.
The animation was quite straightforward, but what's important was that all keyframes must have the "easy ease" effects. This is what makes the animation smooth and not so stiff.
Anyway, below is what I drafted out.
Now, it was time to fill up the rest of the data.
I added simple appear animations for each of the elements so that its consistent with the overall motion design.

Also, I noticed that it wasn't really natural if all 3 lines ended together. So, I adjusted the timings for each line.

3. Reflection
This short task is a good reflection of the animation techniques we learned for our Kinetic Typography task, even though it focuses on a graph. I initially thought we were only supposed to animate the graph, but I learned that it’s better to animate the entire composition to maintain overall consistency.
