Week 1 / Favourite Graphic Designs

Week 1 Lecture

Mr. Fauzi held a meeting on Google Meet to give a brief introduction to Digital Photography and Imaging (DPI). After setting some ground rules, we discussed the importance of Adobe CC and how Photoshop is heavily utilised in the working world. Tips were given on how to master the tools in these software programs, and overall, the lecturer emphasized the results that can be achieved if we are to succeed in this course.

2. Exercise 1: List your 3 favourite graphic design work from Pinterest and explain why.

The simplicity and impact is what drew my attention. It is known that Pac-Man is seen to be the ‘biggest person’ in the game, and this design precisely captures that same feeling, which is to impose fear on the audience.

Design #2:

Simple yet creative, this design uses real-life elements to stay related to the brand, which I find clever. It is also well-edited to make it look as natural as possible, which is something I appreciate.

As someone who loves to watch movies, I appreciate it whenever a designer incorporates elements of the movie into a movie poster. As simple as this example looks, the videotape and axe play significant roles in the movie.

3. Reflection

The first week in DPI, I analyzed three of my favorite posters. I was drawn to their simplicity, creativity, and minimalist design. This exercise reinforced my appreciation for clean, impactful visuals, which I aim to apply in my own work.
